Five things to look out for during England's March international camp
Here are five things to keep an eye out for during the international window across our England men's senior and development teams
MATCH CENTRE: ENGLAND V ALBANIA
This week sees our England men’s senior and development players report for duty ahead of the March international window.
From Thomas Tuchel’s first Three Lions outing to potential new debutants, there is plenty going on across this month’s camp, so here are five things to look out for:
A month to remember
It’s been a memorable week for Dan Burn. The boy from Blyth – as he’s affectionately known – wrote his name into his boyhood club’s history books at the weekend as he rippled the net in the Carabao Cup final, helping Newcastle United to lift their first domestic trophy in 70 years.
It follows on from the defender’s first-ever call-up to represent his country last Friday. And the 32 year old – who was also awarded the Man of the Match – doesn’t have to wait long to return to the scene of Sunday’s showpiece as Burn could make his international debut against Albania or Latvia in a Wembley double header.

Tuchel’s Wembley welcome
New head coach Thomas Tuchel described leading England out at Wembley as beyond anything he could have ever imagined during his career last week when he named his first Three Lions squad for this month’s World Cup Qualifiers and excitement is building for the occasion.
The England boss, who has taken to the dugout under the famous arch while managing Chelsea, will take charge of his first game against Albania on Friday 21 March (7.45pm GMT). It marks the first time the two teams have locked horns since the last clash at Wembley in November 2021 when Harry Kane was at the treble.

A decade of the captain
Speaking of the skipper, this week marks 10 years since Harry Kane received his first call-up to the England senior side. On 19 March 2025, the striker was selected by Roy Hodgson to be a part of the Three Lions’ squad for their EURO 2016 qualifier against Lithuania and an international fixture against Italy.
Later that same month – almost a decade ago – Kane made his bow at the home of English football, replacing Wayne Rooney and scoring just 79 seconds into his debut against Lithuania. And England’s record goal scorer has come a long way since then, setting the standard and making history along the way.

A first-ever meeting
After going head-to-head with Albania on Friday night, Tuchel’s team are back on home turf on Monday 24 March (7.45pm GMT). The Three Lions have never faced Latvia at senior level and their first-ever encounter will take place at Wembley in Group K of the European Qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The last time England faced a team for the first time came in June 2024 when Jude Bellingham scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win against Serbia in the group stage of EURO 2024. And this time out against Latvia, Tuchel’s men will be looking to secure their place at next year’s tournament in North America.
So, what does Thomas Tuchel have to say about his first #ThreeLions squad? 💭

EURO qualification at stake
The England men’s under-19s and under-17s are vying to reach this summer’s EUROs, with UEFA EURO U19 being staged in Romania and EURO U17 being hosted by Albania across May and June. And the next round of elite qualifying fixtures are on the horizon this month for both sets of Young Lions.
Will Antwi’s MU19s will take on Wales, Turkiye and Portugal, with only the team who tops the group progressing. Meanwhile, Neil Ryan’s MU17s will come face-to-face with Israel, Slovenia and Northern Ireland, with all three games taking place at St. George’s Park.
