What is The Greener Game and why is it important?

Grassroots football clubs are at the heart of our communities – but rising energy bills and environmental pressures are making it harder to thrive. That’s where The Greener Game comes in.

England Football and E.ON Next have teamed up to help community clubs become more sustainable. Through expert guidance, practical support, and the chance to apply for free energy audits and infrastructure improvements, The Greener Game will help clubs cut their energy use, lower their bills, and reduce their environmental impact.

It’s a win-win: better for the environment, and better for your club’s bottom line – so you can focus your resources on what matters most: football and your community.

Why is the Greener Game important to the future of football?

The Greener Game will help clubs become more sustainable. We know that rising energy bills have hit grassroots clubs hard, especially in more deprived areas of the country. The Greener Game programme aims to encourage clubs to find out how they can reduce their energy use and bills.

This will enable clubs to spend their money on what matters most to them.

What opportunities are there for grassroots clubs?

All Accredited Clubs can sign up to the Greener Game for energy support, advice and guidance.

Some clubs may be able to access energy audits and infrastructure upgrades.

All Clubs signing up to the Greener Game will receive a self-service energy support pack.
