Five things to look out for during England women’s April camp
Take a look at some of the key stories during this month's international camp
MATCH CENTRE: ENGLAND V BELGIUM
England women are back in action this week with a double header against Belgium on the cards for Sarina Wiegman's side, while Emma Coates' WU23s and Lauren Smith's WU19s also have fixtures pencilled in.
Here are five things to keep an eye out for during this month's international camp.
Milestones on the horizon
Lucy Bronze could become the joint fifth most capped player for the Lionesses, should the defender feature in either of the upcoming games against Belgium. The 33 year old, who has played 129 games for her country, could make her 130th appearance to move level with former England captain Casey Stoney.
Meanwhile, another player who could reach a milestone 50th appearance in an England shirt later this month is Alessia Russo. The Arsenal star, who holds 48 appearances, could tick off the achievement should she feature in both games for Wiegman’s side, first at Ashton Gate and then the King Power at Den Dreef Stadion.

Familiar territory
The Lionesses have fond memories of Ashton Gate, having last visited the south west in February 2023 when Wiegman’s team cruised to a 6-1 victory over Belgium – who they will face on Friday 4 April – to retain the Arnold Clark Cup ahead of the World Cup in Australia.
And the England women’s senior team are unbeaten at Bristol City’s home ground, having played there twice before. Substitute Jill Scott scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win back in November 2015 against Bosnia & Herzegovina in their first-ever match at the stadium.

A moment to remember
Brighton & Hove Albion’s Maisie Symonds received her first call-up to the senior side last month. The midfielder joined club team-mates Fran Kirby and Nikita Parris at St. George’s Park to report for duty earlier this week and the 22 year old, who makes the step up from the under-23s, could make her debut against Belgium.
“I had an unknown caller coming through and I wasn’t going to answer,” recalled Symonds, revealing how she found out the news. “It was one of those ones where I answered and waited for someone to speak in case it was a scam or something like that. I almost said, ‘are you sure?’”

The dogs of St. George’s Park
There were some special guests at St. George’s Park earlier this week when the Lionesses checked in at basecamp. Some of the players were joined by their canine companions on a sunny day in Burton with the England team’s dogs taking in the fresh air.
Millie Turner’s dog Pongo, Chloe Kelly’s dog Brody, Jess Park’s dog Ashy, Beth Mead’s dog Myle and Lucy Bronze’s dog Narla were among the visitors who enjoyed a game of fetch and explored their new surroundings before their owners get to work at this month’s international camp.

EURO qualification
Preparations are underway for the final round of EURO qualifying for England women’s under-19s. Lauren Smith’s side are looking to book their place at this year’s 2025 UEFA Women’s U19 EURO finals which take place in Poland later in June, with only the team who finish top of the group able to advance.
The Young Lionesses will play three final fixtures which are all set to be staged at St. George’s Park. First up is Belgium on Wednesday 2 April, before Smith’s side face Austria on Saturday 5 April, finishing off with a match-up against Ukraine on Tuesday 2 April (2pm BST).
