England finalised their preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2026 with a comfortable 3-0 win over Costa Rica in Orlando.

Declan Rice gave the Three Lions the lead after just ten minutes before Anthony Gordon smashed home a second-half penalty following waves of English pressure.

Ollie Watkins then added the gloss, as he headed home a third three minutes from the end.

It was a dominant performance from Thomas Tuchel’s men, who begin their World Cup campaign next Wednesday against Croatia in Dallas.
England started brightly and Jude Bellingham was first to carve out a chance, with the midfielder turning on the edge of the box and unleashing a shot that was deflected wide.

The breakthrough came less than five minutes later, as Rice swept a shot home from inside the box after Gordon beat his marker and drove into the box to set-up his teammate.

Gordon then forced Patrick Sequeria into a save as he once again raced down the left and cut inside before being denied by the goalkeeper.

The Barcelona winger continued to cause problems and earned a free-kick that was met by the head of Harry Kane, who forced an excellent save out of Sequeria.

The Three Lions were well on top and Noni Madueke was next to call Sequeria into action, as his bouncing effort was beaten away by the Costa Rican keeper.

Madueke then had a golden chance to double the lead ten minutes before half time, as the winger raced in behind and rounded the goalkeeper but saw his effort come back off the post.

England’s unrelenting pressure continued and Gordon looked to have earned a penalty on the stroke of half time, only for the referee to overturn the original decision after consulting VAR.

The Three Lions continued on the front foot after the break and Madueke was the first to try his luck, cutting inside after a brilliant pass from Kane before bending a shot just wide of the target.

England made plenty of changes on the hour mark and substitute Eberechi Eze made an instant impact, trading passes with Bellingham before firing an effort that was illegally blocked by the arm of Darril Araya.

Gordon stepped up and emphatically converted the penalty to double England’s lead.

Eze continued to be involved, sliding fellow substitute Morgan Rogers in on goal but he could not hit the target.

A third finally came just before full time, as Watkins headed home a rebound after Bukayo Saka’s initial shot was saved.

There was almost time for more as a flowing attacking move ended with Saka flashing a shot across the face of goal, before Eze saw a goal-bound effort blocked.
