WOMEN'S WORLD CUP: FIND OUT MORE
England took another big step towards the FIFA Women’s World Cup on Friday, as they landed ‘down under’ ahead of the 2023 edition in Australia and New Zealand.
It's just over two weeks before the Lionesses kick-off their campaign against Haiti in Brisbane on Saturday 22 July, but after training camps on home soil and last weekend’s send-off game against Portugal, Sarina Wiegman and her players can now begin their acclimatisation period.
After leaving England on Wednesday evening, via a transfer in Sydney, their first base is on Australia’s Sunshine Coast in Queensland, home of the Kabi Kabi peoples and the Jinibara peoples, the Traditional Custodians whose lands and waters are now shared with England’s squad and staff.
