England MU19 squad as EURO title defence begins
Simon Rusk has named his first England men’s Under-19 squad since taking charge, as the MU19s start their EURO title defence in Denmark.
The Young Lions lifted the UEFA European Under-19 Championship trophy in the summer under the guidance of Ian Foster.
But with Foster progressing to the MU20s along with his players, ahead of next year’s U20 World Cup, Rusk has moved into the Under-19 head coach position.
England MU19s have three matches this month as part of their 2022-23 UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualifying round group.
The Young Lions will join Georgia and Montenegro in travelling to Denmark to compete in one of 13 mini qualification groups.

The top two teams in each group will join number one seeds Portugal in the spring 2023 elite round, alongside the third-placed team with the best record against the top two in their section.
The end goal is to be one of seven teams to join hosts Malta in the 2023 UEFA European Under-19 Championship Finals tournament between 3-16 July.
England start their qualification campaign against Montenegro on Wednesday, with kick-off at 5pm, before taking on Georgia on Saturday 24 September, which starts at 1pm.
The final qualification match will be against hosts Denmark on Tuesday 27 September at 1pm.
