Carsley includes Angel Gomes in England MU21s squad
Lee Carsley has only added one new face to his England men's under-21 squad for October’s fixtures as former Manchester United forward Angel Gomes joins the ranks for this month’s matches.
Carsley brought in a host of new players for September's get-together when he announced his first squad since being named MU21s head coach back in August.
The former Everton midfielder started his reign with a 2-0 win over Kosovo and next up are two away UEFA U21 EURO qualifiers against Slovenia and Andorra.
Carsley will be without talented duo Ryan Sessegnon and Harvey Elliott due to injury but has boosted his squad with the addition of Gomes who now plays for Lille.
The forward became Manchester United’s youngest player since the great Duncan Edwards when he was given his debut aged 16 back in May 2017.

Gomes, who helped England win the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2017, went on to make ten appearances for United before leaving the club in the summer of 2020 and signing for French side Lille.
After scoring six goals in 32 appearances on loan at Boavista in Portugal last season, Gomes has become a regular back at Lille this term, featuring eight times in Ligue 1 and the Champions League so far.
Gomes joins a MU21s squad packed with quality and experience, with Joe Bursik, Max Aarons, Marc Guehi, Conor Gallagher, Curtis Jones, Ollie Skipp, Rhian Brewster and Emile Smith-Rowe having all featured in the previous U21 campaign.
They kick-off in their first match on Thursday against Slovenia at Stadion Celje (kick-off 7.15pm BST/8.15pm local time) and then they travel to the Estadi Nacional in Andorra on Monday 11 October, which gets underway at 7pm BST (8pm local time).
