Jude Bellingham says that his sensational injury-time equaliser for England against Slovakia at EURO 2024 could go down as one of the best of his career

Match Report: England v Slovakia

Jude Bellingham hopes to look back on his equaliser against Slovakia at EURO 2024 as the best goal of his career.

The midfielder scored an overhead kick deep into injury time to pull the Three Lions level, before Harry Kane netted the winner in extra time to clinch a 2-1 victory.

Bellingham does not want his stunning effort to define England's tournament, however, stressing they must kick on from here.

He said: "I know what I can deliver in those moments. I've done it for Madrid this year, I've done it for England before.

"If it ends up being one that helps us lift the trophy, then it will be right up there [as the best goal of his career]. But until then, we will see.

"I think the performance was really good until their goal and even afterwards. We had massive control, we were always threatening in the final third. We maybe lacked the little touches to create the big chances but we still had a few that were half-chances and we showed really great quality to maximise. It's going to be important for us going forward.

"Look at who came on, we've won this game together. It's not me, it's not Harry [Kane], it's not the individual moments that you look back on. It's the like of Ivan Toney, Eberechi Eze, Cole Palmer and I could name all the rest coming on. Bukayo going to left-back, that's the sacrifice that you make for a team, that's the energy we need to keep within the team regardless of what is going on outside it."

Bellingham stressed that the win was a victory for the character in the squad.

He said: "It's a good win, we're through to the next round, so we're very happy. It's been tough.

"We showed huge character and it was important to get through.

"You try and find all the different edges because at this level of football, it's so hard to score goals. Every team plays to defend and keep a zero, so that is really difficult. Any chance you have to maximise the situation, like a throw-in, you have to take it and we did."
